Hi {{first_name | Reader}},
The hire I never expected
Something shifted in the last few weeks.
The number of hours I spent working inside my codebase was higher than any time I spent anywhere else on my computer. I didn't suddenly have more time to kill. The codebase became the work itself.
For the last year, I've been tinkering with tools trying to replicate the AI CFO into a virtual brain. And I was going at it the wrong way. I started with the accounting system. Import the GL, map the accounts, generate reports. That gets you a tool like any other FP&A tool on the market.
What it actually does
But the real game changer is when you read a P&L knowing what Warren Buffett would think. Or when you read a balance sheet the way a banker would. Or when you look at your numbers to make a hiring decision knowing that your goal 12 weeks from now is to double revenue.
That's what I mean by "hiring" Buffett. His frameworks. His mental models. His way of reading financials. All of it encoded into a system that works alongside me every day.
That's when financial analysis stops being a report and starts being a decision-making tool. When all these pieces of context are available at the same time.
So I stopped building dashboards. I started building context. Taking the workflows that happen in my brain as a CFO and replicating them in code. Connecting my tools via API. Giving the system legs.

The speed at which this happened is hard to overstate. I don't know if this is what everyone talks about when they say AGI. My guess is it's pretty close. Elon Musk said recently that by the end of 2026, "you don't even bother doing coding. The AI just creates the binary directly." Whether or not you agree with his timeline, the direction is clear.
Why context changes everything
Here's what made this possible.
Before Claude Code, what we used to do was copy context from one conversation thread to the next. You'd paste a summary, re-explain the client situation, re-share the numbers. Then projects came along. You could upload files, give the AI some background. Better, but still not enough. Every conversation still started from scratch in some way.
The shift that's happening right now is persistent memory. Everything you know about a client, a project, a business can now live inside the codebase. Any agent can call on it when needed. Without you copying and pasting anything.
That changes everything. Because now every day of work builds on the foundation of the previous day's work. The system gets smarter over time. It compounds.

And so the job of a knowledge worker changes. It becomes less about doing the work and more about crafting the context. Curating it. Making sure it reflects your experience, your knowledge, your judgment. You're organizing what's already in your brain so the system can use it.
Satya Nadella said it at Davos this January: the job of every firm in the economy is to translate tokens into economic growth. The only bottleneck for doing that isn't your time, your money, or your technical skill. You have an infinite number of experts at your disposal right now. The bottleneck is intent. How sharp is your intent?
I keep thinking about all the assignments we couldn't take. Companies that were too small to afford a dedicated CFO. Good businesses, run by smart founders, who just didn't have access to the financial expertise they needed.
That gap is closing. Fast. The highest form of knowledge and skill is being democratized. This is a great equalizer.
What's coming next
If your goal in 2026 is to be ambitious, to achieve something that matters, then putting that context together is the move. Understanding it, organizing it, making it accessible to something that works for you 24/7.
Over the next few editions, I'm going to show you exactly what I'm building. And how you can build alongside me. One objective: help you make smarter financial decisions that maximize your cash flows and minimize your worries.
Next time: the full toolkit. 30 minutes, zero coding.
The full build walkthroughs, the tools, the code, the failures. All of it.
2026 is going to be a great year. We're just at the beginning of Q1 and I can't wait to share what I'm working on.
The Scalable Finance Wheel maps six dimensions of your finance function, including the ones most people never measure. Takes 3 minutes:
What would you want your own AI system watching for you? Cash position? Overdue receivables? Budget variances?
Hit reply and tell me. I read every one. It shapes what I build next.
